Paintings

My abstract paintings are often described as “energetic and dynamic”. Inspiration comes from my love of the natural landscape, in particular the South Devon coastline. This recent work is based on my response to summer. I am influenced by the geomorphology of the land and my approach is often intuitive and spontaneous. I try to capture the ‘essence’ of a place in time through observation, quick sketches and photography. My paintings embody a ‘freeze-frame’ of natural phenomena and are an emotional response to my surroundings.
